Hospital appointment - what would you do?

Hi all. Just looking for some opinions, what would you do.

A few weeks ago I was sent to have an ultrasound on my neck/jaw as I have a lump.
The ultrasound woman said it was a lymph node and more than one swollen.

I've been waiting for an appointment to see the consultant to discuss results.

On Thursday afternoon I had a missed call on my phone and a voicemail that I couldn't retrieve at the time.
On Saturday 6th I had a letter through the post inviting me to an appointment with the consultant on Friday 5th!
The voicemail turned out to be from the hospital telling me about the appointment on Friday.

I rang the appointment line today to say I had not got the message in time. The next available is November 30th.

I'm so worried about how quickly the first appointment was made. Should I go and see my GP in the meantime or just wait til November?

ugh - that's so annoying that you didn't find out in time. I'd probably ring my gp surgery and see what they say. At least they can put your mind at rest

Thanks for that. I managed to get through to the doctors surgery just before they closed. I'm having a ring back from my GP tomorrow to see if anything can be done.

Quick initial appt probably means someone else cancelled with no notice & your paperwork was first one on top of the pile (because last placed there). I don't think it means anything else.

Thanks, I hope so. Paranoia had really set in Blush

It was probably a cancellation - I'd phone the medical secretary this morning and explain what happened, tell him/her you're perhaps concerned the appointment came so fast and actually can it wait til end November? I'll bet it was s cancellation though so you were lucky but unfortunately missed it

Broken11Girl · 09/10/2018 06:05

Agree, it was probably a cancellation. They'd have made the other appointment much sooner if it was that urgent.

Thanks all. Well having spoken to my GP, it turns out that I need a biopsy and it's urgent. I've phoned the consultants secretary twice (answer machine) and left a message (once).
Hopefully I will get an appointment sooner.

Fingers crossed you won't have to wait too long. Hugs x
