What works to help with PMT?

Back in the days Before Children my periods were extremely erratic (16 wk cycle anyone?) so PMT was only a problem for a few days in the year. Being on the pill for years helped regulate my cycle but also controlled the PMT. But NOW I have regular 4-5 wk cycles and moderately bad PMT (not attacking people with knives but I am not easy to live with for 3 days out of every month).

What have people found helpful? I'm trying starflower oil caps at the moment - not sure if they help yet. I don't want to go back on the pill - besides I'm 34 and they'd start saying minipill if I go asking at the drs.

TIA for answers.

aw, I know how you feel , it's horrible.

The evening primrose is worth a go I think, I get very bad PMT and it definately takes the edge off.

I love a lavender oil bath too, very calming I find.

Other things I found help vary really depending on whether I'm manic or weepy. I cried for a whole day once when I watched a very sad nature programme

Have a look at the 'only joking' threads on MN for a start!!!

Not in mood for a laugh? - exercise? good run on the threadmill?

I hate the way we always looking for solutions and feeling guilty for having PMT - sometimes we just needs to indulge and let our hormones take over - have a good cry, but something outrageously expensive, wear pj's for the day, eat all round us, watch 3 dvd's ina row while the house falls down around us, get hair done - whatever makes us happy.

Three days a month? - It would be one month rolling into the next if men had to deal with it!

hi sassy, this was me up till march of this year for years and years....

i have now discovered AGNUS CASTUS which is very conveniently available online at holland and barrat or from their shops. I was originally told to take the tincture but prefer the tablets - 4 a day.

I promise they worked for me. I was so low in March because i was horrible and i mean horrible to dh and dd.

if you need any more info contact me.
good luck
