I would really appreciate the input of anyone who knows anything about Pelvic Inflammatory disease. This is long - apologies...

I started haveing bleeding between periods 2 months ago. Have been feeling exchausted and a bit down the whole time. I was sent to the gynae again, because I had a fibroid during my last pregnancy and they wanted to have a look at that and My GP suspected that I had a polyp near my cervix.

The result was that a) the fibroid has shrunk and b) there was no polyp, but apparently my cervix was not - properly closed.....Although they said this was not a major worry. Oh have also had a smear - was normal.

SO, the bleeding didn't stop (wasn't alot - but was evey day) and I ended up going to the emergency dr on Monday night as I had a bladder infection (I thought) a roaring temperature and was advised to come in. They said there wasn't any sign of a bladder infection, but wanted to give me antibiotics in case it was there but too early stage to tell. They had a look inside again and she thought my cervix looked a bit red and inflamed.

Started the antibiotics on Monday night - bleeding has finally stopped. Have been doing some reading and it appears that PID can cause bleeding from the cervix .....and would respond to antibiotics.

is it likely that it would be this - why did the gynae and the dr not even consider this as a possible cause of the bleeding??

Whole thing has really been getting me down, and left me slightly anemic too,,,,

thanks
