An ear infection or water in the ear?

My ds (10 mths old) has been pulling one of his ears regularly and sometimes tries to poke his finger inside, my dh wants me to have it checked out as sometimes (ds) is distressed when he pulls his ear but there has not been any discharge from the ear. Should I be concerned? I have reduced the times I wash his hair just in case water is the culprit but I would feel stupid going to the doctors if there really is nothing wrong. Your advice will be deeply appreciated.

Don't worry about going to the GP - you pay taxes - that's what they're there for!

I would go as they can have a really good look. It could be lots of different things so it'd be best to get it checked out.

I've just been today with my 5 month old.

He was up screaming in the night, and has been pulling his ear with no other symptoms for a few days.

It is an infection. Always worth checking imo.

I will see the GP tomorrow, thanks luciemule and Mrscarrot.
