Shingles how long

So I'm 25 and have shingles it's on my shoulder going down and on my scalp.
It's turned into an angry red rash, I'm taking antivirals but it's still very painful, I've had it since Tuesday and I'm just wondering how long it will take before I start feeling better?

Thanks

I ended up with about three weeks off work but I was too late for the anti virals. It can really vary though, my aunt was ill for months but older people take it harder.

I had shingles last year on my face and in my scalp. It was really very painful. The rash took about 4 weeks to disappear but I still have nerve pain now occasionally right at the edge of my hairline. It really does vary from person to person.
