Nits or not?

Not sure if I'm in the right section but need some advice.

Was at the hairdresser for the first time in ages the other day and just as she was finishing she started to look closely at a strand of hair. She told me she thinks they were eggs (thankfully it was the end of the day and I was the only one left) the reason "because they don't slide off the hair". I don't have kids of my own but work as a nanny to at least 5 during the week so it's not impossible that I caught them. Then the other hairdresser came over and looked behind my ear and went "yup" and that was it. They finished. I paid and left. As soon as I got home I searched where she showed me. There was a small pure white cluster on a single strand of hair barely visible unless you where looking for it. I could easily pull it off my hair. Looked nothing like nits to me (I had them all through Primary - not for lack of trying to get rid of them). I don't feel itchy or crawling (except when I think about it too much) and I haven't found any thing else.

I was always under the impression that nits where found near the root to feed on blood so why would they be near the end of my hair and if it was nits surely they would have been long hatched before my hair grew to that length.

So I guess what I'm really asking is that if I'm positive its not nits what the hell could the white bits be?

P.S. Some theories I had was that it could be hair product or scabs as I do tend to get a few spots on my scalp.

If they were white then they would be empty cases. Live ones are darker and would be closer to the scalp

I presume she would be talking about a bit egg rather than a crawly?

I'd get a treatment and go through my hair regardless xx

Nits are eggs, lice are the creepy crawlies. I wouldn't use a treatment unless you found live lice.
