I suffer from constipation and have IBS. Does anyone have bowel issues and also experience lower back problems? X

Yes my dh. He gets lower back pain and often had what he calls - phantom poo syndrome ( his description ). When he has spoken to a dr or physio they tell him it's to do with the nerve endings sending a message to his brain he needs the loo. Does that sound like you could be getting the same ?

I currently have sciatica type pain and a mix of diarrhea and constipation. I am not sure if in my case this is linked to bowel endometriosis irritating the nerves or at least this is the latest theory from this morning's physieo

@Namethecat- yes this might be the case. I tend to refer to Dr Google (stupid I know) and there isn’t much on the net about link between bowel and back but it makes sense to me?
@Jellyjumpers- I had surgery about 12 weeks ago for bowel endometriosis and I’m wondering if it’s done permnanet damage as where they excised the endo was full of nerves. I’m thinking it maybe something I have to live with

Yes. I had an accident a deacde ago and injured my lower back, although I'm able to keep fit and active. I swear it caused my IBS to deteriorate. The nerves have never felt quite right since.

How soon after surgery did you get the symptoms? Could it be adhetions?

haggisaggis · 26/09/2018 16:17

My dh suffers from constipation and is absolutely convinced that it causes severe back pain - but this has been disregarded by any medical professional he has spoken to. He basically keeps himself dosed up on laxatives in order to be as close to back pain free as he can.

@Jellyjumpers- I noticed it quite early on. I don’t know much about adhesions and the kind of pain they can cause? I have heard the word a lot but don’t know much x
