I had a baby 7 months ago and since then I've been getting the most terrible hot flushes. They happen almost every day, usually around the same sort of time (9.30) but can happen again later on too. They leave me absolutely dripping with sweat, especially from my face and neck, and seem to come on no matter what the weather is - they were no worse during the heatwave and haven't really improved since then. I often get cold shivers at the same time as feeling really hot - hard to explain but almost like when you have a temperature and your insides feel cold but your outsides are hot!
I'm still having periods and I'm still ovulating (or at least I'm getting all the signs of ovulation) although my cycle hasn't got back to normal after having my daughter so I don't think it's menopause - plus I'm only 33 with no history of early menopause in the family. I have PND and am on fluoxetine and propranolol so it could be side effects but the doctor doesn't think so as those medications are both used to TREAT hot flushes. I'm overweight but no moreso than I was before I had my DD and I didn't have these then. No unexplained weight loss (I wish) or fatigue (beyond the usual new mum tiredness) so it doesn't suggest hyperthyroidism.
I'm at the end of my tether - it's making me so miserable I don't like leaving the house. My GP keeps saying it will settle down but 7 months seems a long time to still be getting them...
