Not me but my Mum and 2 of her siblings so Im at a bit of a risk I think. Are you getting any treatment?

motherone · 25/09/2018 23:07

Yes I am having injections each month I think that's why I'm a bit down today as I feel the injections aren't making as much of a difference that I thought they would. I also would like to have another baby but can't on these injections. Also finding work harder and harder with my condition. Is yr mum receiving treatment

I have drusen- the dry macular degeneration type. It's inherited apparently. I'm 37.

motherone · 26/09/2018 07:39

Really I was told it wasn't inherited but I developed it due to my perception being so high for so long as I have been wearing glasses since I was 8. How is ur vision? Do u still work?

Hello, we're so sorry to hear this. We're the national charity for people affected by macular disease and know how alone you can feel upon diagnosis. Our Helpline is open weekdays 9am to 5pm and will be able to offer any support or advice you need, as well as point you in the direction of other people you can speak to. Please do give them a call on 0300 3030 111 or email [email protected]

Hi OP, I don’t have macular degeneration but I have a genetic condition which affects my vision and I’m partially blind, I’m only 30. If you ever want to chat feel free to PM me, I know how scary dealing with something like this can be Flowers

I don't have Macular degeneration, but I do have Macular damage from repeated retinal detachment.
Adjusting has been hard.
I found a Facebook group called Retinal detachment and vitrectomy support. They have been really helpful. I suspect you will find a group for Macular degeneration.
Visual disability is extra hard because we look normal, so family and friends can't appreciate what your vision is like.
