Prolonged bleeding, treatment not working

I have always had problems with periods, ever since they started. Generally long, extremely painful and heavy and every 6 weeks. I've taken tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid for years. Last year I had a blood clot so tranexamic acid is a no go. However, I had a coil put in in January and bled lightly on and off for the first 6 months. After that I had a heavy but not painful period of normal length every month or so. I've now been bleeding since mid August. Heavily. I'm on norethisterone (6 per day) which has made it much lighter but hasn't stopped it. I've been booked for a hysteroscopy in a month or so but wondered if anyone has been through similar and what it was?

Bleeding since mid August could cause you also to become anaemic over time. Do not put up with this and seek more medical help asap.

Has anyone ever mentioned endometriosis to you; this could be a possible cause for your heavy and painful (particularly that problem) periods.

Who has suggested the hysteroscopy; at the very least you should be seeing a gynaecologist and asap to determine what the root cause is. You should not have to blithely put up with it; the cause needs to be determined too. Its all very well them trying to treat the symptoms but it has not really worked and the underlying cause remains.

Yes, I'm currently on the treatment for endo- although they've never given me a laparoscopy, and I have two children. I had an ultrasound last year which was normal - no fibroids.

I'm seeing the gynae when I have my hysteroscopy but a month seems a long wait
