Itching.......!

Just that. My daughter and I are suffering from itchy scalps that is driving us both mad and the more we scratch, the more we itch.

I thought it might be head lice. Neither of us have ever had them so I'm unsure of symptoms, but I've thoroughly checked us both and even treated her just in case. We use different shampoo and have both changed recently. Because of the itching, we've both got small red bumps around the base of the neck and hairline.

Any suggestions? I've even started itching on my arms and legs but I'm pretty sure that's phantom itching, and I'm doing it subconsciously.......!

Fungal infection. Go to your GP before it gets worse (as you see, it's now also spread to elsewhere on your body)

but would that be contagious? As in passed from myself to daughter or vice versa?

Yes, spread by spores from the fungus in the air.
Could be allergy to a new shampoo?

You need to see your GP whether it's an allergy or a fungal issue. Anti-Histamine should help with the itching in the meantime, as well as switching to a very pure shampoo...even washing your hair with a bar of gentle, pure soap.
