Painful lymph node swelling behind ears

Hi, wondering if anyone can help.
Yesterday my ear started getting two painful swellings. One is about 2 cm behind my mid ear and one is about 2 cm above my ear. They appeared really quickly, they’re painful to touch or lie on and they don’t seem moveable. DH is of the opinion of going to the GP but really it’s likely to just be a virus that will be gone by the time I even get an appointment surely. I’ve scared myself with the internet. I’m presuming it’s lymph nodes because I can feel the same thing with two in my neck but they’re smaller and less painful.
Can anyone reassure me?

Could be mastoiditis. If the symptoms fit, you do need to see the GP.

I've had this and it was an infection in my lymph nodes. I would go to the GP, mine took a while to go.

Only your GP can or should give you reassurance. It's probably a viral infection or a sebum buildup and nothing to worry about, but MN is not the place to diagnose and you may need some antibiotics ASAP to prevent further problems.
