incomplete tonsillectomy

After years of suffering from disgusting tonsil stones I finally bit the bullet in my forties and had a tonsillectomy ten days ago. Right up until the day of the op, I was wondering if I was doing the right thing. I had it done privately by a professor of ENT and by all accounts a leading light in his field. When I came round from the anaesthetic he told me that mine were the worst tonsils he'd ever seen! A dubious accolade which made me think I'd made the right decision in having them out, despite the ten days of horrible pain that followed. HOWEVER, ever since the op I've noticed what feels like leftover tonsil tissue on the right hand side of my throat (the tonsil that was most badly infected). I thought it might be a scab and eventually clear – the left hand side of my throat feels completely clean – but having done some googling this evening I'm horrified to discover that leaving tonsil tissuge behind (or tonsil tags as they're called) is quite common. The feeling of this tissue in my throat – which feels just like an enormous tonsil stone – is going to drive me mad and I am devastated to think I might have gone through all of this for nothing. So my question is: has anyone else had a tonsillectomy where some of the tonsil tissue was left behind? If so, what is the redress? I'm horrified that I put my body through a GA, sackfuls of hardcore painkillers, three enormous antibiotic injections and ten days of searing pain – only for the op to possibly need repeating. Aaghahg.
