anyone else fed up with the eczema/asthma/hayfever routines?

i am just about to start the evening baths. I will be done by 8pm.

all 3 dd's have eczema of varying degrees right now, and each time this place gets cream smeared, pj's get covered, freshly washed hair gets grease in it and they all become slippery as hell.

i dread it.

Understand completely and I only have one ds. My ds fights me when I put the cream on so it ends up everywhere. I am completely fed up with it. God I could go on and on and on.....We are a bit late this evening and about to start the bath routine. Back in an hour (probably covered in cream). oh doooooom

misdee, poor you. I have just developed eczema at the ripe old age of 41 and it is hell on earth. God knows what it must be like for little ones

I hate my own asthma/hayfever routine and I'm self-medicating The thought of having to do it for kids as well sends me cold in horror, quite frankly.

I am very very very very VERY lucky neither of my boys (touch wood) seem to have inherited that trait from me.

Bath time takes forever with one never mind three of them Ds really suffers in this weather and we are potty training too and he gets a big sore patch of eczema where the pants go

We have been out for the day today and it seemed to be taken over by cream and inhalors.

What emollient are you using misdee?
Sounds like 50/50.
We have just swapped to hydromol which is a lot less slippery but a darn sight more effective.

dd3+2 are done and in bed, just refilling the bath for dd1 now.

we are using balneum in the bath.

dd3 has emovate as she has a flare up, plus dermol500 for washing and aveeno for afterwards.

dd2 has aveeno and hydrocortsuione for the one really bad she has, plus inhalers for asthma.

dd1 has dermol and aveeno as well. plus hydrocortisone ointment for any flare ups (elbows and knees mainly). inhalers, and piriton for night itching.

dh has hydrocortisone and dermol500, but i cant bath him lol.

What is dermol500 like?

You forgot to mention what a pain in the backside it is cleaning the bath afterwards!

I forgot on Friday and looked like Shaggy out of scooby doo in the shower the next morning- you know when he is running but going nowhere!

sympathies, misdee. Dd2 more or less grew out of her eczema at 6 but even with one child I found it all a terrible bind.

Yes I think the relentlessness of it is the real bind. There is never a day off. DD1 has just got back from Brownie camp and had a great time but her skin is awful and her hayfever made it worse.
She is 8 and still needs help to cream herself but she is becoming more independent.

right am done, but bath hasnt been scrubbed yet. the balneum makes it very very slippery and then dries sticky and you cant remove it for love nor money.

dd1 is 7, but also still needs help, especially if we need to use the strong stuff.

dermol500 is good stuff. dd1 has been using it since she was 2, and it has been a godsend. she started reacting to it last year when her body went haywire and reacted to everything she had been using fine, but fortuntly she is fine with it again. it helps keep infections at bay, we havent had a majorly crusty child here in years lol.

i am so glad i dont wet wrap as well. we tried it when dd1 was small, and it took over an hour just to do her, nevermind 3 of them.

POnly little bits of eczema here but the inhalers and anti-histamines and nose sprays are enough hassle, all three of us on different stuff and then taking extra in case of dd1 reacting when we are out.

me me me so bloody fed up, been at walk in tonight for more creams for dd1[17mths] as when I phoned gp on fri they said wed was earliest appointment. If I am not creaming her up with excema flare up I am trying to get her to take her inhaler and steroids.

one bonus is my hands are lovely and soft.

pmsl misdee funnily enough was just think the same.

misdee as you know my dd's having awful problems with her eczema at the moment and it's making me very depressed the amount of things I have to put her through every evening and morning at the moment so I totally sympathise.

We're seeing the Big Specialist tomorrow (wrote about it on my other thread) and I'm so hoping for some answers. Your input would be gratefully received as dd's really suffering at the moment. Her face is like sandpaper and red raw with almost all the surface gone. It's so depressing.

oh poor dd IF. hopefully the specialist can help. do they think its definatly eczema?

dd1 has sebhorric and discoid, she did have atopic, which flares up as well occasionally, but generally under control. dd2+3 have atopic eczema, well the cards still out on dd3 for infantile or atopic.

No idea if it's eczema at this point. They've gone through so many different diagnoses now. Originally the first dermatologist we saw (after trying to get the appointment for 3 months) said it was 'perioral dermatitis' caused by the over-use of steroid medications for a skin condition which isn't eczema. Thanks to the GP for that one. So we no longer use any steroid creams and dd's been on long-term strong antibiotics but it's continued to get steadily worse. It doesn't seem like eczema to me. I had / have eczema and dd has had small flare-ups since she was a baby, but that's always affected her body and not just her face (and genitals ) like this does.

I'm at my wit's end. I almost feel it's cruel to send her to school this week her face looks so bad.
