Itching with no rash - help please

My partner has been itching for weeks now, multiple visits to the GP, various creams and anti histamines prescribed with no relief at all.

It happens mainly at night, and is mostly on his neck and arms, although sometimes elsewhere. However, he has no rash at all except redness due to scratching. He requested a blood test which he is waiting for.

This problem which may seem small is stopping him sleeping and really becoming quite awful for us both! It doesn't seem to be mental health related either, as I'm aware that can often be a cause.

Does anyone have any experience of this or knowledge as to what it to could, or how he could get some relief while we wait for an answer? It feels like the GP doesn't see it as a major issue, but the longer it goes on he is at his wits end with it!

Any advice appreciated. Thank you

My best friend is suffering from the same thing. She's had bloods done and they're all fine so I don't have any suggestions or answers I'm afraid. Itching can sometimes be linked to liver problems...maybe look into that?

I get this when I'm suffering from anxiety. GP said it's a real symptom.

Think that's why they're doing the bloods bowtie. Obviously we're hoping it's not that but feel like an explanation would be progress.

Anxiety doesn't make much sense, he's well emotionally and doesn't really struggle with this (no more than he ever has anyway).

He says it's like a crawling under his skin.
