Anyone been to Al Anon meetings?

I'm just wondering since I feel a bit worried about going.

My father has been an alcoholic for most of my life but gave up (with professional help) 1 year ago.
This week he started his sumer holiday and he has started "having just a couple of beers".
This is someone who would drink spirits at 7 in the morning, and i don't think he will be able to just drink 1 beer.

Anyway I'm really worried about him and I want to speak to people in similar situations, but I don't know what the meetings are like.
Is there "normal" people there?

Yes, I have been to an Al anon meeting. I am not a dependent drinker but have other problems and was forced to go to an AA meeting as it waa part of another program I was in.

I was amazed - the people in the group were great. Some were recovering and had been sober for months, others were just proud to be sober that day. I never imagined I would have anything in common with an alcoholic but found a lot of what was read and said in the meeting quite helpful. Everyone seemed quite normal to me! I would happily go again...

I think if you keep an open mind & don't have any expectations of the meeting it shouldn't be as bad as you think.
