Eagles syndrome

Has anyone any experience of this condition? My husband was diagnosed with this about 5 years ago by a Consultant after being referred by his GP.
This condition seemed to appear after a difficult tooth extraction although may have been brewing anyway.
The condition only gave him pain occasionally but for the past 3 months a red angry rash has appeared on the affected side of his jaw and he has been in considerable pain in his jaw, neck and shoulder.
He has been to 2 different GPs in his practice about the rash who said it was a shaving rash and nothing to worry about. They prescribed steroid cream and moisturising cream which haven’t made any difference. We both thought if it was a shaving rash it would be on both sides of his face and I must admit I’m beginning to worry it’s something more serious, but also wondering if it could be connected to the Eagles Syndrome.

I would have said shingles but if the doctors have already looked probably not.

I have Eagle syndrome but have never had skin rashes with it. Do the GPs think the jaw, neck and shoulder pain are due to shaving rash too?!

I'd be pushing for either a dermatology referral, or to someone about the pain.

PragmaticWench he has had the rash about 3 months and the jaw, neck and shoulder pain about 2 weeks. His GPs are difficult to get an appointment with. I called today and the earliest appointment is 24th September. He is going to ask to be referred to a specialist then.

Meant to add I wondered if it was the rash that made the Eagle syndrome flare up.

Last appointment with GP was 4 weeks ago before he had the jaw, neck, shoulder pain.

Glad he is going back to the GP, it may be that the pain and rash are not related. I do think seeing a dermatologist would be a good step.
