Please say a prayer/think of her, I'm really worried about it as she's only 5. I'm sure it will all go ok but I'm terrified that she won't wake up It's an operation on her eyes which will take about 40 mins or so and we'll be getting there at 7.30am. They said she's 4th on the list so about mid-morning it should be done.

Ds1 isn't well today either, he has a temp of over 102 and a headahce so I might have to stay with him rather than my parents having him and also have ds2 who I'm still breastfeeding. Dh will be going but it depends how ds1 and 2 are as to whether I'll be going in first thing or not.

She should be able to come home after 4 hours or so as long as all goes well and she's able to eat and walk.

thinking of you and your DD jodie.

hennipenni · 08/06/2007 10:30

Thinking about you all too. My DD had an operation on Tuesday this week, she's now enjoying some mummy time as she's off school till next week.

vimfuego · 08/06/2007 10:32

She'll be absolutely fine.

JodieG1 · 08/06/2007 10:51

Thanks. She'll be off school for a week too. They said it will be quite painful for the first couple of days and that she probably won't want to open her eyes

oh Jodie - its so worrying isn't it! I worked myself up into a real state when DD had her hernia op and she was absolutely fine and loved all the subsequent fuss! I'll think about her tomorrow x

OhNo40 · 08/06/2007 12:53

We'll be thinking of you. DD had an op near her eye at 6mths which seemed dreadful at the time but is now a distant memory (she's 3 now).
One useful tip I have always remembered is that you can alternate paracetamol & ibuprofen to keep pain relief topped up as long as you don't exceed the maximum dosage for either in the 24hrs. Check this with your nurse/doctor but you may fine it useful. DD was too young to do anything but cry so we had no real feel for how much pain we was in, other than volume. Hopefully your DD will be able to tell you that its not as bad as you feared.

Thanks. They're giving us 2 sorts of painkiller so we can alternate and so give them more often. The pediatric nurse that I spoke to last night said it would be painful and feel scratchy for the first day or two. Dd is quite a wimp as well so I'm sure she'll feel quite bad afterwards.

Popped out today and bought some more pens for her and have a new coluring and dot to dot book for her to do whilst waiting for the op tomorrow.

Boco · 08/06/2007 17:58

Goodluck for tomorrow, hope it goes well

cathcart · 08/06/2007 18:02

Lots of cuddling up then this week Jodie! Good luck with everyhting tomorrow - I'm sure it will be just fine but I can well imagine I'd be just as worried.

Hope she has a quick recovery!

JodieG1 · 08/06/2007 20:10

Thanks again Definitely loads of cuddles afterwards and next week. Have sorted out the logistics at least, mum and dad coming over in the morning to watch ds1 and ds2 and joining us at the hospital before her op, I can also feed ds2 then (have left expressed milk for in between), then going after she's out to give ds1 some lunch and then coming back in the afternoon to see dd again and so I can feed ds2 again. My boobs will explode otherwise as I'm used to feeding him every hour really.

glad you have it all planned out, and will be thinking of your dd. She will be fine.

JodieG1 · 11/06/2007 08:46

Just to let you all know it went really well and we were home a couple of hours later. She hasn't been in pain as we've kept her dosed up as they told us too. She was really brave She was sick last night but I think that's from the bug that ds1 had as ds2 is also ill as well now. It's been a hard couple of days as ds2 was up until 11pm last night and was up for over an hour in the night and also fed 5 times before 5.30am. I'm exhausted. Dd is ok this morning but ds2 still has a temp, about 101/102. Thanks for the messages. Must dash.
