I've had an intermitent dry cough that seems to be worst when not eating or drinking and at night or in the car
I am starting to wonder if it is actually an allergy as my phlegm if it even is that? It's more like saliva? Is grainy on the tongue?
I get the coughing fits at night and they keep me awake.
I've tried an anti histamine today and it is better but not gone.
Could it be cats? Even though I didn't suffer before?
I have been awake for nights with it and it's really tiring me out.
I have had to go and get throat lozenges through the night which is massively unpleasant and also they are sickly? I don't have a sweet tooth.
The coughing actually makes me retch it is so severe.
I can't be bothered with the gp.
It's not a cold.

Asthma maybe? You need GP.

nhssecretary · 09/09/2018 17:47

Asthma? I can breathe though
I am fed up of the doctors I had a lot of back problems and it's taken years to try and get on top of

Is the grainy thing not maybe animal hair

You really need to see the GP. Any cough for that length of time needs investigating, I know it can be frustrating when you feel like you are being pissed around but I'm sure your doc will take this seriously. Just go and get seen Thanks

I'll call them this week
I feel like a time waster
It's worse at night and i don't smoke
My throat is prickly

Agree to see GP OP

Also asthma can also exist without wheezing

Anyway see GP x

Acid reflux. A persistent cough at night was pretty much my only symptom to start.

You really need to see your GP for a chronic unexplained cough. I went after four months of having a cough, which was worse at night and when I bent over. I was sent for an x-ray the following morning and they discovered I had a very serious issue, pulmonary oedema. Treatment was started immediately, with further testing to determine the cause.

While it could be something very simple and not serious, it's not something you can mess around with.

Hope it all goes well.

Well listen to this
I watched GPS last night for the first time in months.
A man came on with a cough like mine.
He had chest x rays all clear
Apparently could be silent reflux like PP said
Well I took rennie last night and it was a million times better....
I'll still see the GP

Sounds like silent reflux to me. Have a look at Dr Jamie Kaufmann's website. www.voiceinstituteofnewyork.com. Her book Dropping Acid is very helpful.
