Trapped nerve or muscle strain???? Breastfeeding too............

I'm not sure which but I've got a constant ache in my left shoulder and can't move my neck backwards very far at all (having to drink with a straw....or leave 1/3 of my drinks) as it's too painful to tip my head back. When it's painful it's like a sharp stabbing pain - don't know whether I've strained it (first noticed it yesterday after I'd spent the entire night in almost the same position) or trapped a nerve.....

Either way is there anything I can do to alleviate the pain - was going to try some deep heat on it earlier - until I read on the box "consult your doctor before taking if .....breastfeeding....".......

Well haven't got much advice but just wanted to say well done you for b/f. Try to relax maybe get hubby to massage it, if it's not too painful. I'll pray for you too!

thanks - anyone got any ideas of anything other than paracetomal (which does sod all for me) that I could take???

Have you been bf'ing for long?

I developed sore shoulders and neck when I started cos I was feeding in a really poor position (shoulders hunched and rolled forward).

Sounds like you should try warm baths and a massage. If no good, go to an osteopath - going to the GP is usually a waste of time in these situations.

Hiya FA!!

I would go to the gp in the first instance to get a diagnosis then see what your options are.
Hope you're doing ok and that your pain eases soon - Ouch for you. Are your boys running around after you?

well they're running round after me as much as can be expected for 6 1/2yrs, 3 1/2yrs and 2 weeks old LOL.

Didn't help today that DS3 was a complete nightmare and was awake (and crying for a lot of it) from about 12 until 4.30 this afternoon. Thankfully he slept from 4.30 until 7.30 in the chair (still won't go in his carrycot/cot) had a feed and I was going to top and tail him - but put him down whiel I put DS2 to bed and he went back to sleep - and still is.....

actually think I spoke too soon - it feels worse than yesterday now . Infact it's so bad that even when I swallow the movement of the muscles you use to do that makes it hurt!!!

Perhaps I'll be calling the Dr. on Monday morning after all.....
