Uti - blood - tmi alert

TMI alert!
Got antibiotics at 10 am this morning for a suddenly bad uti that came on out of the blue last night.
Is it ok that there’s blood coming out there even when I’m not peeing? There’s little squirts now and again. Not huge amounts, but like the start of your period. I’m planning to go to bed now but it’s unnerving me. Thanks and sorry.

I’ve had blood with a itu before. The ab should have started to work by the morning.

Caveat - I'm not a doctor or nurse.

It could be that you are leaking slight therefore it would be blood in your urine.
Have you got a temperature? If you are feeling ok and it's not lots of blood I'd be inclined to rest and give the antibiotics time to work.

I'm not a doctor so you might want to ring 111 for advice.
Hope you feel better soon.

It's not uncommon to leak slightly with a uti

If I understand correctly and you are bleeding from your urethra then you should call 111. I'd not be worried about a teeny bit of blood in the urine but this sounds worrying

I had this once with a bout of cystitis (or other uti) looked like I was pissing blood - so gory!! Anyway got antibiotics and it very quickly cleared up, was miserable at the time and very painful, you have my sympathy!

Blood from your urethra must always be checked. It's probably due to the UTI but please don't assume. Get advice from a doctor ASAP.

Do speak to doctor. They may want to run further tests to rule out more serious conditions.

Thanks guys. I was at doc at 10am. Have taken the second lot of antibiotics at 6pm and it’s not a huge amount of blood, but more than a little. I told doc this morning. She said it was a bad infection and sent off the sample to make sure there was nothing further. It’s just that the amount of bloods a bit more this eve than earlier. Think I will go to bed now and hope it’s ok tomorrow. Thanks a million lovely people.

That's good they are running further tests, its probably just uti but always best to check.

An update! Took the first lot of antibiotics- didn’t work, they were too low dose. Got another lot Wednesday and they were much stronger. Feeling better now and finally today the bleeding had stopped! 5 days of bleeding. Yes the doc knew... it wasn’t a fun week! 😬

And another post! Doc rang to say the urine results came back this aft to say my infection is resistant to both antibiotics I’ve been taking so put me on a third this evening 😐
