Half a piece of bread-IBS

At breakfast this morning, I ate half a piece of white toast. HALF a piece! Now, I’m sat on the loo for the 2nd time in half an hour and it smells like death in here(according to my DH!)
That toast with real butter tasted soooo good. But bread(wheat and gluten) isn’t my friend. I didn’t take my tablet before I ate either. Oh and I also had a spoonful of baked beans with my breakfast too-another trigger.
What was I thinking?! Silly girl. Supposed to be in work later, too.
This is very much a sympathy-seeking thread. Which I doubt I’ll get, as this was totally self-inflicted

Fuck it. Sometimes it's so worth it

Have you got any Buscopan? Does anything else settle your guts?

Hahaha. I’m not so sure?! Sometimes I get away with it. Others, I don’t. I take mebeverine, but that only really works if you take it before you eat the ‘good/bad’ stuff. Peppermint tea sometimes helps

I know your pain.

I did toast with butter and jam this afternoon. Was lovely. Am now feeling not so grand.

I hope yours 'passes' soon!

Have you been tested for coeliac disease? I’d always advise it to any who gets told it’s ‘just’ IBS. ‘just’ indeed...when you go to the loo 10-20 times a day and you can’t bear to wipe your bum again!

I’ve had a colonscopy and biopsies so I’ve been confirmed as having ‘just’ IBS. I’d highly recommend getting referred to a dietitian (my GP did a referral for me) to do the low FODMAP diet - where you elimate all foods that trigger IBS and then reintroduce them one at a time to see which ones you react to. I’m loads better now - I don’t eat gluten and reduced my lactose intake. I also cut my sugar out in the week which has really helped.

My GP wanted to test for it but said I’d have to be eating bread etc for the test to work Hmm seemed a bit counterproductive to me so I said no thanks.
Anyone know anything about citalopram? I took my usual dosage last night but it’s a different brand than I usually take. I feel so teary and jittery. Been lying in bed having a whinge since about 4pmSad
Could this be due to the brand change?
