Referral help

I have a referral for Physiotherapy booked at Hospital A, but I’d rather go to Hospital B. Would this be possible to change?

I’m having physiotherapy for jaw pain, at the time the dental consultant gave me a choice of locations for the referral. I don’t have much experience with hospitals at all and I have just moved cities, so I just said Hospital A as I had been there before. However I’d much rather go to Hospital B as it is much closer to my workplace, it just wasn’t on my mind at the time as I have never visited it before. Hospital A is very inflexible with appointments, they only have Wednesdays at 3pm available so I’d have to book time off work to get there on time from work. One appointment would be fine, but going forward this will be a problem for me, Hospital B is very close to my workplace so appointment times would not be an issue. Also this might sound petty but hospital A is in a very bad area, it is down the road from a high category prison and I don’t feel comfortable with the 25 minute walk from the train station. I didn’t have these things in mind at my dental appointment as I just had to pick somewhere on the spot.

You should be able to change it but will probably need to get your dental consultant to re-refer you to hospital B. So you could cancel your appointment at hospital A and go back to see the dental consultant (or phone them) and ask them to refer you to hospital B instead.

I wouldn't cancel hospital A though until your consultant has said it's ok to re-refer you. Don't worry, it's a bit of paperwork for them but it's better that you're comfortable and able to get to the appointments for it to be worth it for you.
