Lymph nodes in groin area

I've had raised lymph nodes in my groin area for about 4 weeks and I'm a bit bemused as to what's causing them. There are 3 on one side and 2 on the other - no UTI, I've had a blood test which shows no infection, no wounds on legs, etc. etc. The only symptoms I have are a bit of a sore throat, achy legs and feeling generally a bit under the weather.

Any ideas? I'm not having massive panics, but I am wondering what's caused this!

Are you shaving? Had the same in my armpit recently and was told shaving causes micro damage to the skin and sometimes lymph nodes react to that. Could also be fighting an infection minor enough to not show on bloods. Was your white blood cell count raised at all?

I think it was raised for me (my WBC count tends to be really low, either outside normal or borderline) but it was still very much within the normal range! The shaving thing is a good point, I hadn't considered that.

Are you sure they weren't always there and you are just feeling them now? I can feel two in one side of my groin and one the other, they have been that way for about 8 years now. The doctor told me that sometimes they can become palpable after an infection and never go back down.

I'm pretty sure that they aren't always there - I had them once before (with an infection) but they went back down quite quickly that time.

Mine come up after shaving too x

They're probably just rogue ones. I have loads I can feel in my neck and 1 on each side of my groin. They all move and have never changed apart from if I'm poorly when they swell.

It could be that you're coming down with a virus but it hasn't hit yet

I've had a big one on my groin for about 8 years doctor said he thought it was because I shaved it never goes down whether i shave or not. Doesn't hurt at all though x

Thank you so much for the reassurances. I've decided not to worry about it! It's probably nothing at all or a virus that's just lingering a bit. The main reasons I got a bit worried were that there were so many of them and that I've been feeling a bit tired / under the weather for weeks too. It's nothing terrible, just kind of constant sore throat, tired, aching arms and legs, feeling a bit sick... I'm supposed to have a follow up with the GP at the end of the week and I can't decide whether or not to cancel it. I would like to be miraculously cured, but it's probably a virus which she can do nothing about, in which case I'm just wasting an appointment slot!

I would still go to appointment as they can be sign of infection and your body trying to fight something xx
