ds been running fever and I've tried to give him Calpol/ nurofen. Each time he cries as soon as he see the spoon/syringe. I managed to get the medicine in the mouth and he swallows it down, only to make himself vomit it out within 5 seconds! I then have to wait for the 4 hours to lapse before the next try. He is feeling very unwell, tells me he's hot and points to his head.
Any suggestions?

Paracetemol pesseries. I am not sure if they are prescription only though. Give your doctor a call and ask for them, they don't normally prescribe them without a push, but they work. I don't know why they aren't more common here, but you can get them.

The fever is actually the body's way of dealing with a problem. If you really feel that he needs to cool down I have read that you can wrap a child's torso in damp towels, then tuck into bed.
