He is finding the "oh rich mans disease" phrase a little annoying from his GP's, he is being prescribed all manner of things which leave hi stomach in agony. Non of which help.
Ok yes he does drink, his diet is not bad at all though. He has cut down alcohol but he would struggle to give it up, I know and have told him that he asks for gout really by not having at least some alcohol free days...
I am really keen to find something to help him...
Anyone?

Does he drink 2l of water a day? If not, that can really help. Plus cutting out rich milky/creamy foods. Basically lots of plain foods are best.

my dad has it and does not drink - tell him to avoid red wine as that is meant to be offender and cut out purines in his diet - type of protein found in beans, pulses, some fish etc - do a google search..

Dad on tablets every day but has not had attack for months so tell doc to get meds sorted out... or change to more supportive and up to date doctor!

apparently gout is increasing in society - hits mainly young men ... not necesarily rich ones!!

my FIL also has gout, but has not had an attack in years. This is mainly due to my MIL keeping him on a strict diet.

No booze, and only 1 portion of protein a day.

Obviously, he takes his gout pill every day as well. I can find out what it is if you want.

He really must cut out booze and protein - there's only so much the pills will do.

Hope he feels better soon - I've heard it's agony.
