Numb legs

My legs have been feeling sort of heavy for a couple of months and the past two weeks they have been increasingly numb and so of tight feeling-like the muscles are permenantly contracting. I am young and don't have any health problems. Diet is reasonable, lots of fresh fruit and veg but very little meat not over weight or anything. No strenuous exercise recently or indeed any changes to my lifestyle. Any ideas?

Very little meat may be causing you to be low in iron and B12, for a start. Get bloods done, what the GP would usually order as standard plus ferritin and B12.

There are lots of things that could be causing this- including systemic things like a B12 deficiency or a more local problem in the spine. You need to see your GP as soon as you’re able. This is rare, but if you start to have any bladder/bowel issues such as incontinence, loss of urge to urinate or a loss of sensation in the groin area, seek medical attention urgently.

I do ear a reasonable amount of eggs and dairy-could I still have a B12 deficiency?

@Racecardriver definitely, you can have a B12 deficiency for a few reasons, one being an absorption issue.

Personally, despite eating meat, dairy eat with every meal my levels are strangely low. Probably because of all the antibiotics and stuff I've been on over the years. Some people just lack what is called the intrinsic factor requires to absorb it sufficiently.

@9amtrain thank you. I didn't realise that could be an issue. I will get it checked. What kind of symptoms have you experienxed as a result of your deficiency? I'm wondering whether there have been other things that I have missed now
