Hi. Can I ask anyone who takes prednisilone what side effects they had/have.

I’ve just started them and am soooooo tired and feel like I’ve been hit by a truck! Is this normal?

Ooo and while I remember I’ve got diarrhoea! Is this a side effect as well?

Thank you

Has anybody on it long term found that it has helped the condition for which it is prescribed.
I am dubious about the benefits and have actually reduced my dose a little because the side effects are miserable.
My consultant put me on Azathioprine as well but I only lasted 3 weeks before the horrendous headaches and vomiting meant that I couldn't leave the house.
I just want to be able to have a life, even if there is going to be less of it. Otherwise what is the point?Sad

Absolutely. I couldn't breathe, I would be dead without it.

I am glad it has helped you Davros.
I guess I am just feeling fed up today.

My dd is currently on 15mg a day pending a dermatology consultant appt , she had a week in 20mg dropped to 15 mg for a week and then dropped to 10 mg and the condition worsened so she’s been told to stay on 15 mg . She has absolutely no side effects and if anything has lost weight since she started them .

Heh, I also had the Doritos addiction!
I've been on it for about 3 years (RA, systemic Scleroderma) as it's the only drug that has helped. Unfortunately adrenal insufficiency has kicked in and its making me really I'll so I'm now reducing.
At its best I had LOADS of energy and little pain - but I was also totally psycho, always hungry, really fat, huge fat face and my hair is falling out. And the skin bruising.

I also have scleroderma

Ooh! Perhaps we could do a research project into Doritos, Scleroderma and steroids!

Now my dose is reducing, I don't fancy them at all.

Mrsramsayscat · 22/08/2018 10:26

I have previously had it for a few weeks. 40mg tapering by 5mg every 5 days. And a month of it before that.

I didn't have any weight or facial symptoms but my god, the sleeplessness was horrific. They were magic, though, and did help.

Frigg you'll have to add UC into the Doritos study for me :) Obviously Doritos were the ideal food to put into my poorly innards! Confused
