I think DS might have picked it up at preschool before half term. He's been poorly since Friday, was very hot for a couple of days, then Sunday he ate and wasn't sick...this morning he's been having horrible diarrhoea and Oh great, just been sick again!
But at least he's back to his usual cheeky self, which is a huge relief...

Wondering if this is going around much at the moment, and mainly HOW LONG IT LASTS!!!

I'm due to give birth on Saturday and it's the worst timing, especially if I get it too

We've got the lurgy here at the moment.
Ds3 woke up with the vomitting and cramps on thursday and had intermittant diarrhoea thursday/yesterday.
I started at 10 last night,ds1 at 10.30 last night and Dh has just started now.
Ds1 and I have been up all night with nausea, occasional vomitting, cramps and hot/cold sweats but we feel not too bad this morning.
Of course,Dh will have caught a far worse strain of it than the rest of us and will have it for twice as long.

olivo · 09/06/2007 11:35

we've got it. dd, 9 months started with vomiting on tuesday night and still isnt right though hasnt been sick since last night. i was sick on thursday night, all night, but feeling lots better now. dh now has a stomach ache....
best of luck that it doesnt get you flightattendant!

sugarfree · 09/06/2007 13:43

Ooooh nasty aches and pains now.Dh has taken to his bed.The rest of us soldier on,I am on the verge of starting an AIBU thread.

flightattendant · 09/06/2007 14:34

Oh Ladies, my sympathies...it took DS about 5 days to be better in the end, then I had the beginnings of early labour which turned into the dreaded bug!!! Scared off the baby, thankfully, I was up all Thursday night with head in a bucket.
Better now though...I suppose it was a bit inevitable when you're chasing round after a small and wild person whose bowels are not in full control! (and who won't wash their handies) GRR!!!!!!

Luckily no DH to catch it and be worse than us

Hope you're all better soon.

DS2, got this but he can't even keep water down, this is worrying me, any tips?

flightattendant · 10/06/2007 09:37

Mrs Spoon...sorry didn't see til this morning. How is Ds? I hope that stage passes soon and he is able to sip something, try ice lollies or weak squash...flat coke is also meant to be good.

Dioralyte often stays down when nothing else will, it's very important to keep him hydrated, how old is he?

Good luck and if you notice any signs he's getting low on fluids (very drowsy, skin doesn't fall back into place when pinched - that's a serious sign -) then get him to casualty asap. (especially if he's very little).

They would be able to give him IV fluids there.

flightattendant, DS2 is 5, he was admitted to hospital last night and given rehydrating fluids by mouth (thankfully not a drip) whilst they monitored him for signs of more serious illness and dehydration. He came home after a couple of hours and although he hasn't been sick today he is still feeling rough. He has kept down a slice of toast, rehydrating fluids and water today so a vast improvement, although he said he was feeling sick an hour ago but nothing has come up.

I has been suggested it could be a urine infection (apparently this can present itself as serious vomiting). He passed no urine for most of yesterday which was a concern but the water works seem to be working again, albeit less than normal too.

All in all an eventful weekend, I'm just hoping that he hasn't passed it on to any of the rest of us or it will be a miserable week.

flightattendant · 10/06/2007 15:15

Oh Golly. That sounds awful, poor you and poor DS, I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through.
Very good move to get him into hospital though, well done, I'd probably have been too scared...sounds as if they did something to help at least, I hope the little guy feels much better soon.

I'd no idea about the UTI thing. That's something to keep in mind next time if such there is...

Hope you all escape it too, take care, get some rest xxx

Still not been sick today so hopefully he is on the mend. I have handed in a sample to the Dr for the UTI so should find out in a few days if there is anything nasty in it.
