Breast abnormality...?

Hi

So I've made the mistake of googling Blush and now can't sleep.

I have a small red blotch (smaller than my little finger nail) on one of my beasts. It's been there about a week. Not causing any discomfort but weird it hasn't gone. the last few weeks / month I've been itchy between my breasts (put down to being hot).

Except tonight I bloody googled and keep getting results for inflammatory breast cancer and now I can't sleep.

I'm breastfeeding - may be relevant.

Has anyone got any experience of this? Is it worth getting it checked out?

Thank you!

Hopeful bump from an apparently annoyingly impatient non sleeper

It's always worth getting these things checked out. Don't jump to conclusions thought it could be anything. A dry patch of skin, new top or bra that is rubbing, excema etc. Go see your gp asap and report back. I've been in this situation twice now and know how terrifying it is. My mum died at 44 from bc so I'm always vigilant.

Good luck.

Thank you for the response!

As always in the cold light of day it doesn't seem as scary so I'm wondering whether I should keep an eye on it over the weekend and if it's still there Monday then go and see GP? Or would you call for an appointment today? (My surgery is all same day appointments - there is no advance booking).

Google is a bugger for causing alarm if you type in "small red mark on breast" - you get eleventy billion results for IBC! In actual fact, IBC is incredibly rare but small red marks anywhere on your body are very common and harmless.

You would need the redness to be covering at least a third of your breast before they'd consider IBC. The red mark you've got could take weeks to disappear(mine did) so if you're going to fret then make an appointment with your GP for reassurance.

There's a similar thread about this further down where I've added my two pennith rather than typing it all out again but essentially if you are worried get it checked out but I had similar, worried, Googled, started digging my own grave then my mind was put at rest by go.

My bet is it's nothing. It if it grows, develops further symptoms then get it checked.

If you’re breast feeding could be a blocked milk duct, I had that. But yes go to doctor, to put your mind at rest if anything.

Hi cornflake thanks for posting this - I have exactly the same thing. A small spot/ bite like mark on my boob for 1-2 weeks. I too consulted that most alarmist of physicians Dr Google and have convinced myself it's IBC. of course now am obsessing and am sure my boob is hot/ painful/ lumpy.

My rational self says it's fine but am prone to health anxiety so will be heading to the GP.

Hope yours is clearing up.

@ChairoftheBored mine is still there but I think it might be slightly paler. I'm not sure. I should have taken a photo! I think I'll have to go to the GP. I've got horrible anxiety already at the moment due to a break up so I don't need this on top Sad

Fingers crossed for you. Thank you also for sharing.
