So I’ve recently changed careers and moved in to teaching (which means I’m on my feet A LOT more than before) and have found that it’s causing me some problems. For the past couple of months I’ve been getting bad back pains at the end of the day which is achy mainly but sometimes I get sharp pain when I lie down and try to relax my muscles. After going to dr google one of the possible causes was split an muscles (or diastis recti) which when following the instructions online of how to check, I found I had. So off I go to the doctor in hopes she can confirm or deny that I have this issue and maybe recommend some physio or something but long story short I was told that she didn’t believe in this problem and that I probably couldn’t feel the abs at the bottom of my stomach because they’re underneath fat. Now I wouldn’t say I’m huge but I do go to weight watchers. I’ve been at target for a few weeks and I’m at the bottom end of my healthy bmi weight range. So the question is, as my doctor doesn’t believe in a problem that is talked about on the nhs website, do I ask to see another doctor? Or specialist? Or do I just live with the problem? I feel like I told her in my post baby check up that my stomach wasn’t going back to normal and she fobbed me off at that point so I highly doubt at this point 2 years later she’ll be willing to do anything but I just don’t want to end up taking pain killers long term if there is something I can do about the problem. Any advice is appreciated. Ty.
