Sudden spots and redness on face - HELP!

I've name changed for this as I'm sticking a picture of my face on it.

I wondered if anyone can help - I've broken out in red spots all over my cheeks and jaw bone. Never happened before and came on suddenly over three days. Started with maybe 4 or 5 red spots and then this! It looks like spots but feels sore. I don't know if its relevant but my period has just started.

That looks like rosacea, there is a type called papulopustular rosacea and you get really painful lumps and spots. Mine looked like cystic acne at its worst.
See your Gp, there's a cream called soolantra now that was made especially for rosacea. Works really well and I use it once a week now to keep it away.

Thanks Whirly. I will go ask my GP about that and have a google. Yes, it does look a but like cystic acne but its no oily or in my tzone. Gah...

Does it come and go or do you always need to use treatment?

Mine was severe so I was under a dermatologist and put on roaccutane in the end. Some people find out what triggers theirs, sunlight, red wine, certain foods but I never did identify mine.
It can come and go but treating it effectively early on is what see,s to be the best idea rather than a watch and wait policy.

So definitely ask for soolantra, so much better than the other option of three month courses of antibiotics, although you may still need them. I had three years of every antibiotic going for extended periods of time, my stomach is a bit messed up from it Hmm

You poor thing - yes I could do without extra antibiotics, I'm on immune suppressants so end up taking them a lot anyway. Just been reading about the soolantra and the link to the mites sounds interesting as mine started with what looked like insect bits. Probably coincidence but made me wonder. Thank you so much for your help - I hope the GP can get me started on something for its so uncomfortable.
