Numb tooth

For the last year I have noticed that one of my (front :( ) teeth has started to feel numb. I went to the dentist earlier this year and I mentioned it so they took an x-ray. I’m not sure what they were checking for but they assured me that everything looked fine on the x-ray. I used to get a lot of bleeding around the gum of this tooth but it hasn’t bled for a very long time. I just guess I’m worried that I’m going to end up losing this tooth. Especially as it’s one of the front teeth. I already feel very self conscious about the look of my teeth. They are very small and worn down but the idea of losing one of my front teeth is really upsetting me. Is there anyone else in here with similar experience who could offer some reassurance? I only notice the numbness when I gently press on the tooth with my fingernail.
