Might it be scabies? (photos - sorry)

I really hope the namechange works.

I had what looked like insect bites appear a week ago, loads of them all over at the same time. Last night I noticed that several were now surrounded by a bright red scalded looking area. Over night I was super super itchy and as a result I only had two hours of sleep. I could see that the bright red patches were enlarging and I was feeling a bit poorly.

I saw the nurse practitioner today. We briefly discussed whether it might be scabies because a week ago I was working with homeless people. The only contact I had was shaking their hands though. She decided it wasn't but I'm wondering now if it is. It's so itchy :( I have a bumpy rash on my right wrist.

NP thinks that they are just infected insect bites She gave me antibiotics and instructions to go to a&e if there is any worsening. It's pissing down with rain and I feel shit, so don't want to drag myself out to the pharmacist if I'm being a drama queen.

Photo of my wrist and one of the infected areas.

It sounds more like scabies than infected insect bites! I'd be inclined to visit pharmacist and ask his/her opinion and if necessary go back to GP for second opinion if the antibiotics don't bring rapid improvement.

Thank Fuck for that. The pharmacist said it's almost certainly not. It is infected bites. He suggested piriton 6 times a day and cortisone. I'm glad I asked though, at least I don't have to fret now.

Always worth a second opinion if you're worried! Did he hazard a guess as to what bit you?

No, no idea. I went to the pub and woke up the next morning with loads of bites. It's really weird.

Looks like flea bites to me.
Scabies are normally passed on via hands. You get a red itchy rash between your fingers and can often see thin red lines tracking up your hand. It's highly contagious. Treatment is derbac from head to foot
