Right, Baby UCM is usually such a happy little girl, she started grizzling about 10am today and didn't stop actually crying until about 9pm. I gave her Calpol, Nurofen, powders, bonjela etc.

Her eyes were red and runny after going on a picnic to the park, she was sneezing and her nose dripped. I wondered about Hayfever and since DS had a reaction to grass once (might have been duckshit) I dipped her dummy in Piriton. She is now asleep.

She has NEVER stayed awake this long. So girls what might it be. Tell me it's not teething for this amount of hours.

I am banning myself from here at the moment because I want to do more things with my children, but to be honest, today was a fucking nightmare from hell. Trying to entertain DS & my neice and make sure they had a good time with DD going bonkers didn't help.

Hi UCM

i really have no ideas but couldn't not popst something.
sounds like it coud be allergy of some sort

go to bed and get some sleep whilst you can

mummytosteven · 01/06/2007 21:53

oh dear that sounds like a truly horrid day. Since baby UCM started grizzling before the park, I wonder if she's about to come down with a virus, and that's why she has been so grotty today.

How old is she? Is she feverish? Is there a lot of rapeseed near you or big main roads? Poor girl. And poor you. Sounds like an early night for you might be in order. Off you go!

Thanks for you messages.

AQ Lovely to hear from you. Thanks.

DH is around now, so it doesn't matter if I stay up til late, he has to deal with the kids at the weekends. I am very strict. But to be honest I am not going to be sleeping much as she is sooooo poorly.

She has not had a temp all day.

Someone mentioned an ear infection. How would I know.

UCM, sorry your dd is unwell

My dd2 (six months) was the same a couple of weeks ago, and I also wondered about hayfever. GP said it doesn't happen in such young babies, but several MNers have told me it can and does - and as DH had dreadful hayfever as a child I still think it probably was.

I bet she had a reaction, poor love - suppose she might just be starting a cold, and tomorrow will tell?

Hope it was a one-off, and you all get some sleep.

Elibean · 01/06/2007 22:28

ps ear infection in baby, often they cry more when you lie them down - but only way to tell really is to get GP to look for redness in ears. Unlikely if she hasn't had a cold first, I'd think?

UCM · 01/06/2007 22:31

I truly think that something set her off in the park. I put her on a rug and her eyes were not that bad but after we got back they were streaming. I might be clutching at straws but it's the first time I have taken her there and let her out of the pram.
