Tingling in head and face

Hi all,
There's a longer explanation but the short version is that I've been having pain then pins and needles in my scalp that a few weeks ago spread down my face. They're in my hands and feet too but more mildly.
Each day it gets a little worse, today it's my gums and inside my nose.
Been to the gp, (I have a blood cancer) he wanted me to talk to my consultant to rule this out which I have.
He did sensation tests and weakness tests and said that he would have expected some loss in these areas.
It reads like ms to me and he's said he will refer me to a neurologist but there's a 9 month wait currently.
I'm not expecting anyone to diagnose me but if anyone had any thoughts they'd be gratefully received as I'm feeling quite overwhelmed at the moment.

No thoughts on diagnosis, but seeing a Cranio Sacral therapist might be worth a go in the meantime - very gentle non-invasive technique that is very good at dealing with things like sensation issues. Obviously I’m not claiming it can cure MS, but this could also be a trapped nerve and CS would help that.

Hmm. Never heard of that. Off to google. Thanks.

Best of luck fuzzy please update when you know more

Have you been bitten by a tick recently (within a couple of months)?

387I2 · 08/08/2018 06:24

Oh, I'm sorry, I missed your other diagnosis but being bitten by an infected tick may cause these sensations due to borrelia burgdorferi bacteria.

fuzzyfozzy · 08/08/2018 09:08

Lyme disease come up in a search too but no bites!
Yep I'll update.

This is how my fibromyalgia started. Have to take Gabapentin every day to keep it at bay.

fuzzyfozzy · 08/08/2018 10:10

I'm on gabapentin now.
I get the pain but searches haven't said that fibro has pins n needles?

This sounds very like something I had some years ago. It got increasingly worse over a couple of weeks until I was convinced I had a brain tumour. In the end it was put down to stress/anxiety. Apparently I was having 'silent' migraines, so migraine symptoms but without the headache. I wasn't convinced but it did get better. I do now have Fibromyalgia but am not sure if they are related.

fuzzyfozzy · 08/08/2018 21:47

It started last year and has changed/progressed? Since then.
It's every day and night so I don't think so??

You don't have hypocalcemia or any other minerals lacking in your diet?

fuzzyfozzy · 09/08/2018 14:15

Hopefully that'd be covered in the blood tests I've had?

I've been to a neurologist
He doesn’t think it’s ms
Doing an mri to rule it out
I’ll be referred to a rheumatologist for possible fibromyalgia

Fuzzy so glad you’ve seen someone, reassuring he doesn’t think MS, and even more reassuring to get an MRI so you know for sure. Hope you get a solid diagnosis soon

fuzzyfozzy · 16/08/2018 21:17

Thanks jonty
