Might it be a reaction to the inhaler?

Chugnuts · 31/05/2007 16:03

Asthma UK here is a good site for finding out about asthma. If your gp's practice has an asthma nurse they will also be able to give you lots of info about it.

No idea about the rash but fingers crossed for you that it will be fine.

not tried inhaler yet, only got it today.
dh just called apparently ds has been given steroids to 'make sure it is asthma'(thats what dh said) and theyve said the rash is an allergic type reaction to do with his asthma(????).
i really dont understand asthma

he had his steroid tablet at dinnertime lastnight which was so hard to get in him!3 different cups and a medicine syringe!i still dont 'get' how theyll show gp if it is asthma or not and the list of possible side effects is horrible.
then he had inhaler before bed which involved lot of cryingbut slept well till 11.30.i had to check on him as couldnt hear him wheezing over the baby monitor like ive got used too!

Oh poor little chap! The steroid thing sounds very strange! How will that make sure it's asthma? . I hope he's better soon. Had a thought about the rash, excema (sp?) and asthma can often be related, but then the gp would surely have recognised excema.

kittypants · 01/06/2007 08:55

thanks,he does have excema but it defiantly wasnt that.gp said it was related to his asthma?!.dh took him and i couldnt go so im sure i only got half the story!might phone gp today or just wait till his appointment on tuesday.

hi kittypants. I take it he is wheezing at the minute. I think the GP may be thinking if it is asthma then the steroids will help with the wheezing. The blue salbutamol inhaler is a reliver but the one that is a preventer tends to have a low dose of steroids in it but they tend to hold off prescribing that inhaler until they are 2.
The rash,,not so sure on that it may be due to a viral infection rather than the asthma.

Try not to over worry although I know its hard!

kittypants · 01/06/2007 09:00

thankyou nemo, thats makes sense about the steroids.
