apparently anything over 5 is too high. I have just had a whole raft of tests as a part of a medical research thing, and it was all normal, the only thing they flagged up was a Cholesterol of 5.0, which they side was slap bang on the border....
Don't know what to do to get it down though!!

HTH

my mum has just had a cholesterol test and she got about 5.2 i think. They tolde her the best way to get it down is regular exercise such as an half hour to an hour brisk walk per day. also watch her sugar intake and fatty foods

It is probably ok. If you don't have heart disease or diabetes. Then I'd think you'd probably already be on cholesterol busting drugs.
I'd think this is probably just raisd in a young fit woman and you could try to bring it down by diet- mediterranean diet/ oily fish cutting out processed crud and increasing exercise. This is a total cholesterol and doesn't bring into account your good versus bad cholesterol ratio, so if you have an already very healthy diet it could be your total cholesterol is raised because your good cholesterol is high.

my mother has regular col tests and she says they have now lowered the upper limit from 5 to 4.5.
