Lung shadows

Dh had a chest x-ray which showed two shadows on one lung at the top and bottom. He was then referred for an urgent ct scan but we haven't heard from the hospital with those results yet. The scan was done just over a week ago. Anyone been through anything similar ? It's so hard to not know what is happening. He was a smoker not heavy but gave up ten years ago and is 60.

Thank you both for bumping, I guess it's a question no-one can answer so will be a waiting game. :(

If it's any help if it was a critical diagnosis you would have heard straight away.

NoelHeadbands · 28/07/2018 21:28

Has he had the x ray as a result of recent illness?

I had shadows show up after a bout of pneumonia, that were subsequently diagnosed as sarcoidosis.

Processedpea · 28/07/2018 21:30

no recent illness apart from we both had a bad cold in May. he was referred for high blood pressure. he has no symptoms apart from the blood pressure. I hope that's correct ghengis, thank you.

My (lovely) MIL had the same. Thankfully it turned out to be nothing, just one of those things. Obviously you won’t know either way until the results come through but I wish you all the best, it’s an incredibly worrying time. Flowers

NoelHeadbands · 28/07/2018 21:40

Try not to worry, though I know it’s scary when you let yourself think about it.

It could just be something lingering from the cold he had.

weasledee · 28/07/2018 21:43

Me too, i had recurrent cough and then an X-ray revealed a shadow on the lung.... ct scan followed and I too had had no results after a week so I called them and everything was fine. At a later appointment the doc just said it could be an old scar from flu or just something I was not with...
I'd also be inclined to think that if you'd not heard by now surely it can't be anything overly serious...?
Best of luck OP

I had this when I was sent to have an mri for something else. I had to wait another week to go back for a second scan. It was a stressful time. But It turned out to be nothing. But I had had a bad cough a week before I had my first scan.

Yes my hubby had the flu really bad back in february and had to have 3 lots of antibiotics. He had an X-ray which showed something at the top and the bottom of his lung. They recommended another X-ray after 4 weeks. Again it showed something on the X-ray so they referred him for a lung function test whic he had in June and a ct scan which he had this week. He can’t see the consultant till September. The GP said it’s probably a shadow or scarring from a previous infection. He did have pneumonia as a child. It’s a bit worrying though. Hope you get some results soon. My hubby is gong to phone the gp next week. We can’t get appointments for 3 or 4 weeks,

noel what is sarcoidos? dodie the wait is the hardest isn't it. it's hell

It’s an autoimmune disease, causes tissues to bead up and become granular. Earlier symptoms were facial lesions and repeated occurrences of iritis and uveitis, although it wasn’t diagnosed until the x ray.
