Why does my knee feel like it is gonna snap in half if I either fully straighten or fully bend it ??

Yesterday it felt slightly bruised, today it feels very bruised and it feels like if I fully bend or fully straighten it, it will snap.

I have managed to do both and obviously it doesn't snap, buit it is very sore. It doesn't look at all swollen of different in any way to my other knee, so I am clueless as to what is wrong. Am hobbling along with it half bent LOL.

Haven't done anything remotly strenuous in the last few days either.

Any ideas ??

Did you jump down from anywhere or land hard on it? Sounds like a trapped nerve or dislocation, does it look out of place or funny in any way.

Ibuprofen will help the pain and it will probably resolve spontaneously over the next day or so but if it doesn't or if it gets worse, you may need to see your GP.

My knees do this all the time and have done for years. I have a habit of locking my knees as well and when I shift my weight around they click all the time (it makes a colleague of mine cringe). Bizarrely when my knee does click back into place after dislocating it doesn't hurt, even though it makes a really loud noise.

I wish I knew what causes it as well.
