Eyelid cellulitis, not in UK

I think I have this, and have had for at least a week. Red sore weeping left eye, little bit of pus, basically all the symptoms of eyelid cellulitis. The eye itself is fine though, it’s just the skin around the outside that was puffy and weeping from the inner corner. I have been on amoxicillin 500mg x 3 for 2 days and it’s still sore and weeping though I think it’s a bit better than it was. Also using chloramphenicol eye drops. Going to keep going. Anyone know what kind of oral antibiotic would be prescribed in the UK? Am I doing the right thing?

I would order euphrasia mother tincture from helios. Get well soon.

Have you seen a doctor or are you somewhere you can just buy otc antibiotics? Orbital cellulitis (if that's what it is) needs proper assessment by a doctor. Do not be tempted to stick random woo in your eye/around your eye.

I can just buy otc anti b’s. Excess on my travel insurance is really high due to med history though not suffering from any existing conditions at the moment. Just wondered if amoxicillin is enough or should I have got flucloxicillin. I think it’s called preseptal cellulitis - not orbital as I really would know all about it if I had that type.

You need to see a doctor to get a proper diagnosis. Mismanaged both conditions are potentially eye threatening.

Yes get assessed quickly i had orbital cellulitis and was ill. Euphrasia and a few other 'woo' things cleared it up. Just like when i had a bite that turned to cellulitis...again a few 'woo' things cleared it up. Don't knock nature ;)

You would often get admitted to hospital and get Iv antibiotics in UK.
My DS didn’t but he only had severely swollen eyelid, no other symptoms so got prescribed Coamiclav I think. That was GP discussing with Eye Dr. He then went to see eye dr next day.
You do really need proper medical advice
