Sore throat on one side only?

I'm sure I've had this before so I'm not worried, but does anyone have suggestions on how to treat a sore throat on just one side? I feel fine otherwise, but it's really painful to swallow and I can feel it in my ear too. I think my gland is a bit swollen too.

I'm supposed to be going to a big party later and am wondering whether to suck it up and go, or rest in case it turns into something else. I'm also going on holiday next weekend.

Any suggestions?! Currently taking ibuprofen which is helping the pain but not sure it'll actually do any good?

Try Tyrozets or a Vicks throat spray. Tyrozets usually knock it on the head.

Is your throat inside swollen? Any white lumps?
Last time I had tonsillitis the doctor said he could tell it was bacterial as it was just on one side, viral tends to be all over. Therefore he was able to prescribe antibiotics which cleared it right up.

It doesn't look it, I can't see anything. So I don't think it's tonsillitis, or at least I hope not

I’m a long term tonsillitis sufferer but another thing I sometimes get is one sided sore throat. When I manage to investigate and look with a torch lol I sometimes see a single white sore like a mouth ulcer/canker sore(not on tonsil). It can be so sore to swallow but usually goes away after a few days.

I wouldn't personally worry about it if it's just normal sore throat levels, but single sided. I've had that a few times and its not progressed. When I had a peri-tonsillar abscess (quinsy) about 10 years ago it was single sided sore throat pain that was incomparable to anything I'd ever experienced. I couldn't even swallow my saliva at the worst of it. You'd know if it was that.

i Have the same three weeks down the line now. Which antibiotics did you take as I am allergic to penicillin

Have you done a covid test?
It could also be the early signs of ear, tooth or jaw infection if it's not throat related.

I have exactly the same at the moment, just on the left side. I'm a bit sneezy too so I think it's probably just a cold as I keep testing negative.

I almost always have only one side of my throat hurt at a time when I’m ill. I’m not sure why, buts it’s not been a problem so far. I’d to a Covid test before going to a big event though.
