Maybe you was about to choke on your vomit ? If I was you I would go back to sleep. You could call 111 if you are that frightened and worried and see what they say?

Silent reflux? Doesn’t feel like typical heartburn but does sometimes feel like you can’t quite catch your breath. That would also tie in with the burping. And lying flat makes it worse- so worse at night?

I've had this in the past,I have sleep apnoea and I think I woke up during an attack, do you snore?

tobee · 26/07/2018 14:35

Could also be a panic attack. I used to have them and sometimes they woke me.

Thanks for her replies ..thinking maybe sleep apnoea as do snore and had small episodes of not being able to catch my breath before upon waking but never anything like this could also be silent reflux as only got my breath back when I made 4 of 5 big burps it felt like Air stuck in my throat.. Defiantly don't think I was choking on vomit as I was not sick

I used to get this years ago but it stopped as suddenly as it started. I have occasional mild reflux and mild asthma so I suspect it was linked to one or the other. It does sound like reflux or sleep apnea though.

I visited my gp he doesn't think its sleep apnea he thinks I was having a bad dream and woke from it and that I could have also being having a panic attack. But the whole experience has just made me more anxious tbh
