Any physiotherapists around?

I just wanted to ask for general information so that I know whether to try to push for a physio referral.

My question is would you always expect someone to do physio exercises to strengthen the ankle? If so would that be when a person has a moon boot or after that (back in normal shoes) Thanks

Background
I dislocated and broke my ankle (fibula), spent 6 weeks in plaster. I did have two crutches, one a gutter crutch when on cast but am now using one as it seems safer and is no less painful. The initial letters to my GP stated need cast then moon boot and physio. Last week when I got moon boot saw different consultant and letter says moon boot and mobilise as is comfortable, no mention of physio.

Due to cerebral palsy my foot was not normal before. i would want proper advice because I don't know which exercises would help or hinder (from google lots of hospitals produce exercise sheets but I wasn't given one and want to discuss CP).
