Is this just a bad bruise?

Clipped side of my ankle against a brick last Thursday, instant massive swelling and pain. Could walk on it next day and can do now but it is aching when sitting still and is painful to touch with a lump. I did RICE for first 24hrs, is there anything else I can do?

If you can walk on it without pain then it’s probably just a bruise.

IT is possible to walk on a fractured bone. I did. Worth getting it checked out. Minor injuries/A&E for an X-ray IMO.

If the swelling was mainly under the bruise it was probably a haematoma, bleeding between the muscle layers, so basically a deeper bruise. Like a “ normal” bruise it all just gets reabsorbed and heals.
The key thing is can you weightbear?

I chipped a bit of bone off my ankle bone and went to the gp after about 8 weeks complaining that it was still swollen, bruised and painful. 'Are you still RICE-ing it?' Was the first thing she asked. I'd stopped after about a week or so because I thought that was enough but she pointed out that while it was still painful/damaged, I should carry it on. Ice for 15 mins every couple of hours, elevate whenever possible. Wear a compression bandage. Take regular painkillers. repeat until better!

I can fully weight bare and can move in all directions so don’t think it is fractured or anything. It’s sore to touch, even my leggings touching it hurts.
I haven’t been iceing it as I thought that was it only 24-48 hrs?
Is it worth going to my pharmacy in first instance? I’m not confident going to hospital to get it checked as I can walk pain free. It just aches to touch or when I sit crosses legged etc
