Chicken Pox - Can DD get it again so soon after having it if we visit a friend with chicken pox ?

We've been invited round by my friend who's dc has just come out in chicken pox - my dd obviously gave it to him.

My dd has recovered now but it's only been about a week since her blisters dried up and I'm concerned because I know children have been known to get it twice ?

Anyone advise me please ?

I didn't think you could get CP twice because you are immune after the first time. Are you sure it was CP the second time with the children you know?

You can get it twice - I did, once as a small child and then again about age 9 or 10. Also had mumps twice and german measles twice. I also got measles after being vaccinated, though that was very mild.

they can get it twice but only if the first time it was very mild
My DS has just had CP and he had a really bad do ... it is miserable and wouldn't wish it on anyone twice
I have no medical training but wouldn't your DD be very unlucky to get it twice within a week or two

I too thought that you could only get it for a second time if you had it very mildly, and she will probably be fine. If she is still feeling very weak her immune system will be low, however. How is she in herself?

Thanks all ! DD is fine and on form again but she did have quite a nasty bout of CP so we'll probably be OK.
Just found out another of her friends has come down with it, OOPS !

The whole of her nursery probably has it too as she was with them 2 days before her spots came out.

Oh, aren't we popular. DH had it before dd and I had mild shingles so I think we've had our fair share of being infected
