I’m currently taking 50mg of sertaline a day I’m just wondered am I okay drinking tea with milk? I’m worried because of the caffeine

There's only one way to find out!

My DS2 is on 150mg a day and he drinks coffee and tea just fine!
The only side effects that are a problem is he is very sun sensitive (and he's fair haired and skinned anyway) and burns very quickly on Sertraline.

Just make sure you take it with plenty of water and do not lie down soon after taking it. There's a long thread about how that can make you feel.

Oh okay thank you. My GP just mentioned cutting out tea coffee and chocolate. All of which I’m missing considering I’m a very tired mum of a 5 month old who doesn’t like sleep much 🤪

Avoid grapefruit juice. My doctor told me this when I started sertraline, apparently it can cause problems with other medications as well.

Never heard of anyone having to cut out caffeine though. Or was that to help with anxiety rather than an interaction with the tablets?

Bigpizzalover · 21/07/2018 20:26

I am on sertraline, the only advice I have been given is to reduce high fat foods as sertraline can impact weight gain. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know, but that’s what I was told.

ScarlettDarling · 21/07/2018 20:29

Yeah, as a pp has already mentioned, the cutting out caffeine will be to do with helping with the physical symptoms of anxiety. There shouldn't be any problems at all with the sertraline and caffeine so go enjoy your cuppa!
