How do you know if a mole is dangerous?

Is there any way to check/any signs that tell you a mole is potentially cancerous? or can only a Dr advise? This one has appeared on my back and I never noticed before until my partner pointed it out

There’s actually a good app you can use prior to seeing a doctor. Let me find it.

ICan - sounds interesting. I’m waiting to get one checked.

www.skinvision.com

I have no affiliation, but I know a bit about skin cancer and know it’s a good app. (Scanning the first few moles is free anyway.)

Thanks so much. I'll get that app

That seems fairly innocuous. Things that you have to look out for are bleeding/scabbing, pain, very dark colour, uneven colour, uneven edges and, being raised.

Thank you. The app says it's low risk too. Will look out for the symptoms you mentioned

That one looks ok to me, your doctor will be happy to check it if you're worried.

Look out for asymmetry, irregular border, uneven colour and large diameter. Also if it's very dark, changing or doing anything weird like itching or bleeding.

That said even some weird looking ones can turn out to be nothing. I've just had a 1cm, uneven colour, asymmetrical one removed and it was benign.
