Chronic Appendictis

Has anyone had this?
I’ve been having the symptoms of appendicitis for the last month minus fever (Lower right abdo pain, pain that gets worse with movement or coughing, nausea and sickness). Drs have agreed it looks like appendicitis, however, it has continued for just over a month now and my inflammatory markers have come back ok.

Other conditions ruled out are:
Uti,
Kidney infection,
Kidney stones
Ovarian problems including cysts
Tear in abdominal wall
Coeliac disease
IBS
Acute appendicitis
Hernia

Any other ideas? Next on the list to check for is Crohns and ulcerative colitis.

I’m sure it’s appendicitis as the symptoms fit (even the drs agree!), but can it present with normal inflammatory markers? That is the reason the doctors have said is making them consider other things.

Has anyone been through this? I’m exhausted from the pain, it’s ruining my life.

In the good old days they would have just worked on the principle that if it looks like appendicitis and feels like appendicitis, then it is, and they would have whipped your appendix out without further ado.

This was simple surgery and generally solved the problem.

If it is appendicitis, it may respond to antibiotics. Has that been tried, or are you just being told what you haven't got?

Yep! And I do understand but it’s incredibly frustrating that two ultrasounds have been done and neither actually scanned the site of the pain.

I was originally given co-amoxicol but was taken off that after 10 days because it wasn’t doing anything. Apart from that I’m on nothing and haven’t even got any painkillers (I was promised some in hospital but was discharged without them and told tough). One dr suggested ibuprofen in case of inflammation but another said there was no point.

Just being told a long list of things I haven’t got now really.
