AIBU to go to A&E

Hi all need some opinions please. I got diagnosed with low B12 last month and had my loading doses early June, felt great for about 10'days.

Since then I've had 2 periods - just Lately the are extremely heavy, soaking through super tarpons, night time towels every hour or so. Having to leave work due to spillage etc. The last period lasted 13 days and only stopped when the dr gave me tablets to make it stop.

Now the bleeding has started again, 4 days later and I'm so exhausted I feel like I'm going to pass out all the time, I bump into things and can't get my words out. My partner wants to take me to hospital so they can do some tests. The earliest docs appt I could get is a week on Wednesday and I booked that a week ago!

My poor kids have been shipped off to grannies as I can't function as my partner is at work until 4ish and he's insisting he takes me to a&e. WWYD?

I would yes.

donajimena · 15/07/2018 12:59

I'd probably go. You may be very anaemic

moofolk · 15/07/2018 13:00

There are walk in clinics as well as A&E, which you can often book and it means less of a wait. It's pretty much an emergency out of hours GP if you are losing a lot of blood, feeling weak and can't see your doctor then go.

reallybadidea · 15/07/2018 13:00

I would absolutely go to A&E in your situation.

CurlsLDN · 15/07/2018 13:01

Yes I do think you need medical help, but is there perhaps a walk in clinic you could go to?

fulltimeworkingmotherof4 · 15/07/2018 13:03

Unfortunately we don't have a walk in clinic, we have out of hours go but you have to go through 111 to get an appt. I'm worried they will send an ambulance as they often do unnecessarily. I'll wait til DP is home and see if I'm any better then.

Get it checked ASAP. In the meantime do you still have the medicine from last time. Otherwise take some ibuprofen if you can, that can help with period blood loss.

fulltimeworkingmotherof4 · 15/07/2018 15:04

Still have the Medicine @ChazsBrilliantAttitude have started to take it again. Literally can't get off the sofa. My arms and legs feel like leas

A&E Flowers

MaisyPops · 15/07/2018 15:12

I'd go to urgent care.
In our area they are next to A&E at hospitals. They can always shift you next door if they think A&E is appropriate.

AdiosPeaceOfRoast · 15/07/2018 15:20

This can actually be quite dangerous, a previous poster was very ill with this.

fulltimeworkingmotherof4 · 15/07/2018 15:23

Really @AdiosPeaceOfRoast was that b12 or period related?

OP posts:
BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 15/07/2018 15:26

That sounds like you need to get seen. Over a week is a long time to wait if you're feeling weak and can't get your words out.

AdiosPeaceOfRoast · 15/07/2018 15:33

Sorry, I meant period related blood loss, if it’s very heavy, which it sounds as though it is, you should get checked out today.

FuckMyUterus · 15/07/2018 15:35

The previous poster iirc was worried about blood loss at a wedding because she was bridesmaid. I'm sure it turned out that she had sepsis.
OP you need to go and be seen ASAP!

fulltimeworkingmotherof4 · 15/07/2018 17:21

I'm in a&e now - hopefully won't be too long a wait.
